Fatemeh Johari theisis defence

Friday, Sepetember 15, Fatemeh Johari defended her thesis "Urban Building Energy Modeling for Retrofit Scenarios: Development, Calibration, Validation and Implementation for Swedish Residential Buildings".

The thesis focuses on the need for urban energy systems, especially buildings, to become more energy-efficient and carbon-neutral. It introduces the concept of urban building energy models (UBEMs) to assess energy usage and propose retrofitting solutions. The approach outlined in the thesis uses open-access data from Swedish residential buildings to automate simplified UBEMs and leveraging geo-referenced energy performance certificate (EPC) data. These models also include retrofit scenarios based on Swedish building codes, Passive House standards, and net-zero energy building principles.
