2020-10-02

On 1 October Farshid Shadram started his new position as Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering with specialization in building information modeling (BIM) at the Division of Civil Engineering and Built Environment.

Farshid has a PhD degree in Construction Management and Building Technology from Luleå University of Technology (LTU). He presented his PhD thesis, titled Assessment and optimization of life cycle energy use in buildings, in 2018. Since then he has been working as researcher at LTU and project manager at IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute. Farshid’s research is focused on minimization of energy use in both new and existing buildings over their entire life cycle, and on development of BIM based methods for these types of analyses.

Farshid's expertise in BIM will be an important addition to the divison, not least for the undergraduate education. “As Assistant Professor, I will mainly focus on the courses that concern building information modelling and building design process,” Farshid explains. “From research perspective, my goal is to find new links and collaborations with other researchers at Uppsala University to explore and increase the use of digitization toward sustainable built environment.”
