In January 2021, Uppsala University started a new interdisciplinary graduate school in sustainable development at Campus Gotland. Lukas Dahlström is one of the 12 new doctoral students in the graduate school and is admitted to the subject of Civil Engineering and Built Environment.

Lukas' PhD project is part of a larger project titled Gotland's Sustainable Energy Transition: Resources, Demand and Planning, which involves three of the graduate school's doctoral students. The project studies how Gotland can reach a 100% renewable energy system with regard to energy resources, energy demand and planning. Lukas’ part of the project is about mapping Gotland's energy demand with a special focus on buildings and buildings' energy use.

“I am very excited to be part of the new research school on Campus Gotland,” Lukas says. “I look forward to be able to contribute to such an important research project within a subject that lies very close to my personal interests and my engagement in sustainability. It is also a pleasure and inspiration to work in such a transdisciplinary group with so many other PhD students as colleagues.”

The Uppsala University Multidisciplinary Graduate School in Sustainable Development is a collaboration between 8 departments at Uppsala University and includes 5 different research projects where PhD students collaborate across disciplinary boundaries. More information is available on the graduate school's website.
