New book on modeling of synthetic solar irradiance data

Âzeddine Frimane, Joakim Munkhammar and Joakim Widén at the Division of Civil Engineering and Built Environment have contributed to a new book on modeling of synthetic solar irradiance data published by AIP Publishing. The book covers state-of-the-art mathematical methods for generation of solar irradiance time series and their applications.
Synthetic Solar Irradiance: Modeling Solar Data is the first book to provide an overview of the field of synthetic solar irradiance modeling. In short, synthetic solar irradiance data are computer-generated time series of solar irradiance that aim to reproduce key features of real, measured irradiance. This approach is suitable for solar resource assessment and simulations of solar energy systems in case measured data are not available, for example when a high spatial and temporal resolution is required.
Joakim Munkhammar and Joakim Widén have authored Chapter 3, titled Established Mathematical Approaches for Synthetic Solar Irradiance Data Generation. Âzeddine Frimane has co-authored Chapter 4, Validation of Synthetic Solar Irradiance Data together with the book’s editor, Jamie M. Bright of the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore.
The book is published by AIP Publishing, which is a subsidiary of the American Institute of Physics (AIP).
